    This method has roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine and the belief that new mothers should be fed warming foods to nourish and replenish her life energy, or Qi. After birth the body is thought to be in a cold condition and consuming a placenta that has been lightly steamed helps to restore balance throughout the body and allow for better nutrient absorption. 

   The placenta is steamed lightly, initially dehydrated at 160 degrees to ensure elimination of bacteria, then lowered to 125 degrees and dehydrated completely.

   This method developed from the belief that minimizing the heat processing of the placenta allows for better nutrient and hormone retention. This method will yield a slightly higher amount of capsules. 

   There is no steaming in this method, but the placenta is still completely dehydrated to ensure safe consumption.  (You are not consuming your placenta wet or truly raw.) This method also begins the dehydration process at 160 degrees to ensure any bacteria is eliminated, then heated longer at 125 degrees until dehydration is complete.

The tincture- an extract of plant or animal matter infused in alcohol- is an excellent addition to get longevity from the placenta. They can help balance for energy, transition, stress, hormone stabilization, and are therefore great during returning cycles postpartum, cycle health down the road and menopause.  With proper storage the tincture has nearly indefinite shelf life. Some parents may even choose to share this medicine with their child when menstruation begins to encourage hormonal and cycle balance. 

Full proof organic cane alcohol (95%)  is used for the extraction.
